Arts/Culture

From museums to cultural events, there are many venues and events that display Washington County’s vast appreciation for the fine arts and culture.

In West Bend, there is the Museum of Wisconsin Art and the Kettle Moraine Jazz Festival. In Hartford, the Schauer Arts and Activities Center hosts both musical events and art galleries.

Washington County residents are very proud of their heritage, which explains the number of cultural events that are held in the county’s communities. Germantown is home to the Germantown Historical Society, which watches over the Sila Lydia Bast Bell Museum & Fire Hall, Christ Church Museum of Local History, and the Valentine Wolf Haus Museum and Jeffris Genealogy Research Center. All of these buildings were built in the 1800s and are rich in history. Also in Germantown is an original 1850s settlement based on a 9 acre plot of land.

There are an additional number of attractions to enrich yourself in Washington County’s history, including the Messer/Mayer Grist Mill, the Basilica of Holy Hill, and the Westphal Mansion.
